The 16-core multi-core optical fiber consists of 16 cores with a diameter of 0.25 mm and a 2.2 mm black PE sheath. Since it has two directions, it can be used for both sensors and lighting. Normally, there is only one difference between them, that is, when used in sensor applications, such as fault indicators, each optical fiber will first be wrapped in a polyethylene sheath, and then all optical fibers will be wrapped in an outer sheath of PVC or other materials. However, when used in lighting design, all optical fiber bundles will be wrapped in the same layer of sheath, which makes the process of cutting, stripping and showing the gloss of the optical fiber body more convenient. In addition, for communication applications, the sheath can be black or colored: for dry lighting applications, the sheath is mostly black or transparent. In a transparent sheath, it means that whether it is end-emitting or side-emitting, it can be used for customer lighting decoration.
